No need to explain. Leaving work when the car seems insanely loud. I knew one of the tires had been a bit low recently, but we just had it fixed. They sucked at it though. It was driving on the rim. Managed to figure out how to swap on the spare, and decided that my foot makes a wonderful subsitute for proper leverage. I guess it was lucky that I hadn’t left the parking lot yet, I don’t think I’d have fancied changing a tire without any light, especially when I had no idea what the hell I’m doing.

Oh yeah, and I’m going to build a MAME cabinet. I’d post some links, but Safari doesn’t seem to render the posting page as intended (which means their coding sucked) so not only do I not have all the pretty buttons, I don’t even have the option for doing the manual code. I’d have done that no problem, since I decided that existing shopping cart solutions suck, so I’d just make one from scratch for Aquamods. Maybe I posted that already, dunno.

Well, I wasn’t gone, just lazy beyond recognition. Done a bit of modding and starting to get ready for my move to Mass. and then college a week later. I’ve been having fun teaching myself php and mysql at 4am just for the sake of it. I’ve decided I really need a mac mini that I can just keep as a tiny little 24/7 machine, because no matter how much I love Frozenfire, it just doesn’t bode well with our heat wave, especially sitting next to my fileserver and 500w speaker system (yeah, nice and toasty in my oven of a room). Only real niggle I have with Macs at the moment is that Safari, being one of two browsers that’s totally standards-compliant, just doesn’t work with the ajax interfaces in wordpress and gmail (which is *their* fault, but I can’t really be bothered to jump between safari and firefox all the time). Otherwise, it’s all good.

Time to move that fileserver into the basement. Oh yeah, I broke the 1 TiB mark. Actually, I think I’m well over it at this point. 2x 320GB, 1x 300GB, 2x 36.7GB, 3x 80GB, 1x 40GB, just the drives in use. Another 60GB for my iPod and I’ve now got another 80GB drive that I can’t fit anywhere, not that I really need it at this point. Fileserver’s got 800GB that it’s actually serving (40gb for the boot drive, since I never got freenas working right), but the 300GB in frozenfire has about a CD’s worth of space free at this point. Time to reorganize and consolidate, methinks. Gotta love OSX for that… spotlight rocks, and Exposé makes it too easy to code stuff. I’ve got 17 windows open just on my external display, about half of which are various bits of code. Being able to keep six of them tiled open all at once is a godsend when you’re throwing variables from one page to another and tend to lose track of things easily (comes with the sunrise-coding).
